Trials and Temptations

Pastor Jody’s’ sermon from James clarifies the distinction between trials and temptations. Trials, sent by God, are not punishments but opportunities to test and strengthen our faith, leading to spiritual maturity and the crown of life. They are a chance to demonstrate the resilience of the faith God has already given us. In contrast, temptations to sin originate within us, driven by our own desires, and lead to a destructive spiral if indulged. The root of temptation is often believing lies about God’s goodness. By understanding God’s unchanging character and accepting His perfect gifts, especially our salvation, we can choose the path of life and overcome adversity.
